SERVICE FOR SIGHT

OUR HEART FOR SERVICE!

As Delta Gammas, we are constantly in the pursuit of doing good. We have the honor of raising funds and awareness for our philanthropies, Service for Sight and Gallant Hearts! Through our spring and fall philanthropy events, we have raised over $55,000 for these fantastic organizations. Furthermore, the Alpha Psi chapter has logged countless hours within the Oxford community by volunteering for eye tests at local schools, More Than a Meal, and so much more. We love building connections within the Greek community through a unique program we call “Service Swaps.” During Service Swaps, we partner with other Greek organizations to complete projects such as puff paint coloring pages for children who are visually impaired, dog toys for service animals, and letters to healthcare workers within our community. The women of Delta Gamma are involved in many more volunteer organizations throughout the Oxford and Ole Miss community, such as RebelTHON, Big Event, and LeapFrog. We are fortunate to be able to make an impact locally and nationally from our home in Oxford, Mississippi, all while leaving a legacy of service at Alpha Psi. We believe doing good means doing better, and it is our mission to continue to better the world around us through our heart for service.

About Our Philanthropy

Formed specifically for Delta Gamma by Delta Gammas, Service for Sight has been at the core of our Sisterhood since 1936 when Ruth Billow of the Eta-Akron chapter petitioned members to adopt “Aid to the Blind” as our official philanthropy. Since then, the Fraternity has continued to support what has become “Service For Sight.” Through Service for Sight, Delta Gamma has been able to fund five centers for children with visual impairments throughout the nation. Located in St. Louis, Denver, Kansas City, Phoenix, and Los Angeles, these centers help children with visual impairments learn how to live each day by understanding their surroundings.

Gallant Hearts

Gallant Hearts Guide Dog Center is a non-profit based out of Madison, Mississippi, that provides healthy trained guide dogs to those who are blind. The Alpha Psi Chapter has fully funded five guide dogs: Delta, Anna, Rayla, Lacey, Toby, and Archie! We love to interact with and meet these fantastic dogs and cannot wait for them to be placed in their forever homes. Click to follow our guide dog in training, Archie, on Instagram!
