Dear Potential New Members,

Hi everyone! My name is Carli Scruggs, and I am immensely honored to be the 2024 Vice President of Membership for Alpha Psi! Taking on this role, I have learned so much about myself and developed a deeper understanding of the beauty of sisterhood and all the recruitment process has to offer! It feels absolutely surreal! As we further prepare for formal recruitment, we have high hopes that you will find the exact meaning of sisterhood in your future home! We cannot wait to welcome you to the University of Mississippi, but in the meantime, here is a glimpse of what recruitment is like here at Delta Gamma!

Transitioning into college can be overwhelming, and whether you live thirty minutes or seventeen hours away, you are entering a stage that may be uncomfortable. I had the privilege of coming to college with a few of my best friends from high school, and even then, I still found myself overwhelmed and nervous to transition from a home I was so comfortable with. This experience is why going Greek is one of the best gifts college has to offer! I absolutely fell in love with the recruitment process and the idea that everyone ends up exactly where they are meant to be! The second I stepped foot into Delta Gamma, I felt at home! The genuine connection and acceptance I felt was overwhelming—in the best possible way! As cliche as it sounds, every girl in the room made me feel so seen and special- they loved me for me, which is the most comforting thing I could have found during this process. Ever since that day, I can confidently say that my sisters have continued to uplift and support me and even pushed me to take on opportunities that I couldn't have done alone! Reflecting on my own journey, it warms my heart to know that my sisters at Delta Gamma do this for everyone! You will always have a friend at Delta Gamma which I think is so beautiful and demonstrates our sisterhood perfectly!

I know you are anticipating coming to Oxford and are probably feeling all sorts of different emotions, but I wanted to leave you with a few pieces of advice from myself and recruitment team!

1. Recruitment is a different process for everyone- be yourself and you will end up exactly where you are supposed to be!

2. Go into recruitment with an open mind and heart! You will probably be surprised at the connections you make and the people you meet! These relationships will last a lifetime!

3. Be confident in yourself! Confidence is so important, everyone already loves you for you! Make sure to take time for yourself during this process, and enjoy every moment!

4. Call your mom, aunt, grandmother, or sister! Your family wants you to have the best experience and will be there when you need them most!

5. Last but not least, stop and take it in! This is a once in a lifetime experience, and you will look back in awe at your journey in finding your forever home during these next four years!

Your future here in Oxford is filled with new possibilities, friendships, and experiences that will shape the rest of your life! Embrace the rest of your senior year, savor every moment, and know we wish you the best of luck, are praying for you, and cannot wait to meet you in August!!!!

- Yours Sincerely ITB, Carli Scruggs | Vice President of Membership Alpha Psi

To The Girl Going Through Recruitment, XOXO Recruitment Team

  • If I can tell you anything it is that college really does fly by, so enjoy every moment of it. Squeeze your friends tight, laugh as hard as you can, and take the opportunity to make every new memory possible.

  • Trust the process, and know that everything happens for a reason. There is a place waiting for you no matter where you end up!

  • My biggest piece of advice would be trust the process and enjoy every minute of it. The week of craziness is so worth the end! And just to take this time to meet so many amazing women and find your future best friends!

  • Going through recruitment is scary and overwhelming, but my biggest piece of advice is to look for a place where you feel at home. Find the girls that you feel comfortable to be yourself with and girls who will support you no matter what!

  • True sisterhood is something so special and something we all search for going through recruitment. Always be your true, authentic self, that is the best version of you!

  • Just remember to trust the process and stay true to yourself! Recruitment week is long, but it is all worth it. You will end up where you are meant to be and everything will happen for a reason! Coming from so far out of state, I was so nervous to go through recruitment. Looking back, it was one of the best weeks- full of meeting new friends and amazing experiences!

  • My biggest advice would be to be yourself, and have as much fun as possible during this week because it will fly by! Be a friend to everyone because you never know where you could meet your best friends!

  • My best piece of advice for recruitment is to understand and trust the process because it’ll be all worth it in the end! Find the people that make it feel like your home away from home and just soak it all in . Enjoy every minute of this process while it lasts!
